Silkies: A Premier Bantam Breed for Exhibitors and Breeders Silkies are one of the most distinguished bantam breeds, celebrated for their refined type, gentle disposition, and unmistakable elegance. I think because I raise llamas I just love all that fluff! Their profuse, silky plumage—often compared to fur—combined with feathered shanks and toes, sets them apart as a true exhibition bird. Known for their calm temperament, Silkies excel both in the showroom and as dependable broody hens in the breeding pen.
We began working with Silkies in 2022, focusing on quality and adherence to the American Bantam Association Standard of Perfection. Our current breeding program includes White, Splash, Black, and Blue varieties. Our lines trace back to respected breeders such as Beckard Poultry, Shari McCollough of Harvest Breeze Farm, and Dale Dionne of Dionne’s Silkies—names synonymous with producing competitive, show-quality stock.
Why Choose Our Silkies?
Exhibition Quality: Our birds are bred with attention to correct type, color, and feather quality for success in the showroom. We don't have any split in our lines.
Hardy Birds: Our flock is managed with strict biosecurity and regular health checks to ensure resilience against common poultry illnesses. Silkies can be challenging to raise! Our birds are fed high quality feed, given vitamins routinely and fed meal worms and veggies for treats.
Broody Excellence: Renowned for their maternal instincts, Silkie hens are reliable setters and foster mothers.
Temperament for Handling: Calm and docile, ideal for youth exhibitors. They also make great pets, and are easy to get attached to, well at least for me!
Whether you’re building a competitive show string or strengthening your breeding program, our Silkies are raised with quality and care to meet breed standards.
